MHS Grad Receives Eagle Scout Award

Recent Massapequa High School graduate and Boy Scout Kyle Cardno, 17, of Troop 776, received his Eagle Scout Award at a Court of Honor on June 27. The raEagleScout_071515Ank of Eagle Scout is the highest possible rank attainable by the Boy Scouts of America.

 

To receive his Eagle Scout rank, Cardno had to earn at least 21 merit badges and fulfill a host of requirements in the area of leadership, service and outdoor skills. He spent 91 nights camping, hiked approximately 100 miles and spent more than 130 hours on service projects in addition to his time spent on his Eagle Scout service project of repairing a portion of the Greenbelt Trail in the Massapequa Preserve, so others can safely appreciate nature. The project was sponsored by Richard Schary, President of Friends of Massapequa Preserve.

In the fall, Cardno will be attending the University of Delaware, where he will be studying engineering.
