Letter: Cecil The Lion: I Don’t Understand This Much Attention

Why is Cecil the Lion the major story of the day in this country? Since it happen in Africa, why is our government calling for an investigation? Shouldn’t that be the job of the government in that country assuming it wasn’t legal? Why was talk show host Jimmy Kimmel crying for six minutes on TV for a lion and didn’t shed tears for humans who suffered tragic deaths. Don’t understand this much emotion for this lion and yet we have little compassion for human life. Hunting is a sport, like it or not, so is fishing for trophy or boxing for a titled crown. How do we accept two humans beating each other up in a boxing match for a crown and then cry for a lion? Why was there no tears for the young lady Kate shot in neck and killed walking with her father in San Francisco? Her last words were, “Help me dad.” Being a father and grandfather, those words from a dying daughter brought tears to my eyes. Why is there no investigation into Planned Parenthood for selling the body parts of aborted babies? Now the act of selling body parts is criminal and immoral should be investigated. We seem to have all our priorities mixed up as to what really matters the most and the stories that should be told over and over again.
