Acting District Attorney Madeline Singas easily defeated Michael Scotto in the Democratic primary race for the right to face Republican Kate Murray for the job in the November election.
Singas, a Manhasset resident, replaced Kathleen Rice in January as the acting D.A. when Rice was sworn in after being elected to Congress. Rice succeeded the retiring Carolyn McCarthy.
Scotto, of Port Washington, is a former New York City prosecutor with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.
