Middle School Flag Football

The Garden City Recreation Department will again be offering the popular flag football program for sixth to eighth graders at Grove Park. This program is open to children who reside in the Incorporate Village of Garden City.  

Games are played in the playgrounds on weekday afternoons and during the day on school holidays. In order to register, please pick up an application and return it to the recreation office at 108 Rockaway Ave. or Grove Park by Friday, Sept. 18. Games will begin at the park late the following week. Schedules will be made available at the park once the season starts.

Dance Conservatory Registration Begins

The Garden City Recreation Department’s Dance Conservatory Program is pleased to announce the start of registration for its upcoming 2015-16 season. Director Felicia Lovaglio, along with Mary Searson and the rest of her staff, are excited to start off another fantastic year. The dance conservatory offers classes to Garden City residents ages 3½ years through adult which are nonperformance based. Age is determined by the start date of the desired class. The schedule and fees for this year’s youth classes are as follows (all classes are 55 minutes long unless otherwise noted):

Note: registration is by mail or online only until Sept. 22. Participants must be the required age or grade by the start of the program in order to register.

Each session costs $220 for 22 weeks of class. Classes will begin the week of Sept. 28.

If you have obtained a password from us by verifying residency, you may register online by visiting our registration website at www.gcreconline.gardencityny.net. You may also make your own application by listing your child’s name, address, birthdate, grade, phone and email, plus your first and second choices of classes. Make all checks payable to the Incorporate Village of Garden City.

U.S. Sports Institute’s School Vacation Camps

U.S. Sports Institute and Garden City Recreation and Parks will partner to run several camps during the days the children are off from school.  Our offerings will be as follows (all programs will be held on St. Paul’s fields):

10/12 – Soccer Camp age 5-14

9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. $40

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. $70

1 to 4 p.m. $40

11/3 – Multi Sports age 5-11

9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. $40

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. $70

1 to 4 p.m. $40

Resident Platform Membership Applications

If you are platform tennis enthusiast it is time to register for the 2015-16 membership.

The application for resident membership covers the season beginning Sept. 15 to April 30, 2016. This membership is open to any individual who is a resident of the Incorporated Village of Garden City. It covers unlimited play for the membership holder only under the rules and regulations set forth by the Garden City Recreation Department. It does not cover guests or any programs or special events that the recreation department itself chooses to run. Said events would require an additional fee if applicable.

The fee for membership will be $225. To register for membership, please visit the recreation and parks administrative office at 108 Rockaway Ave. Checks should be made payable to the “Village of Garden City.”
