Indians Pummel Jayhawks

The Sewanhaka Indians relied early and often on its quarterback Elijah Tracey, but he received some relief from his wideouts and running attack along with stellar defensive play during their 41-14 romp of the Jericho Jayhawks on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Junior wide receiver Yvans Oscar (2 rec., 57 yards, 1 TD) nabbed a 35-yard passing touchdown from Tracey to open the onslaught. Tracey hit Stephane Eugene (3 rec., 34 yards, 1 TD) towards the end of the first half with a 15-yard passing score.

Jericho’s Donvan Condon scored a one-yard touchdown run prior to the Jayhawks’ successful two-point conversion, closing the gap with Sewanhaka, 14-8. Senior Indians wideout/free safety Trevor Regnier returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter, widening Sewanhaka’s lead.

Shaheim Taylor-White, a player to watch coming into the season, scored a late touchdown distancing the Indians from Jericho, 27-6. He finished with 10 rushes, 86 yards and a score while Tracey rushed twice, for 15 yards and one touchdown. The signal-caller Tracey went 6-for-9, 107 yards and 2 touchdowns and an interception in passing.

Junior outside linebacker Jahzyah Parache and Vladimir Cange both finished with 12 tackles and two sacks, with Parache adding an interception and a forced fumble.
