The seventh of eight Homeowners Cleanup Program dates and the fourth and last Paper Shredding Programs date for 2015 and Oyster Bay Town residents will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24, according to Town Councilman Joseph D. Muscarella.
“Residents within the town’s Solid Waste Disposal District who are looking to dispose of any garbage or clutter in their home can use the Homeowners Cleanup & Paper Shredding Program and take unwanted, non-hazardous trash or paper to the town’s Solid Waste Disposal Complex, located at 101 Bethpage-Sweet Hollow Road, Old Bethpage, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,” said Muscarella said. “There will only be one more Cleanup Program in 2015 for residents to properly dispose and recycle trash. The beginning of fall is a great chance to take any trash from your home, garage, or storage shed and bring it to be recycled before the trash piles up.”
Muscarella further noted that proof of district residency must be shown. Additionally, if you plan to bring any boats or trailers, proof of ownership must be provided and signed over to the Town. The boats must be drained of all oil, gas and other fluids, and all batteries must be removed.
Bushes, tree limbs, fence posts and similar items will be accepted as is and need not be broken into smaller pieces. Used tires, large metal items in excess of four feet, clean fill, clean broken concrete, and boats and boat trailers will also be accepted. Passenger cars, vans, pickup trucks and small trailers are admitted to the program. Six-wheel or larger vehicles are not permitted.
The final Homeowners Cleanup Date will be Sunday, Nov. 15. For more information, residents can call 516-677-5943.
