A hit-and-run driver killed a 40-year-old man in a wheelchair in the victim’s hometown of West Babylon on Friday night, Suffolk County police said.

Michael Dora was in the right lane on southbound Great East Neck Road when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling southbound at 9:15 p.m., police said.

The victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle involved is believed to be dark in color, possibly a Nissan, with front-end damage.

Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone who has information or may have witnessed the crash to call them at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
