The Ed. Foundation Grants Awarded

EdFoundation102115DThe Ed. Foundation held its annual Grant Awards Ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 15, honoring the innovative teachers, administrators and community members who were awarded the 37 grants for this school year totaling more than $100,000.

“Our Grant Awards Ceremony is a major highlight of the year for The Ed. Foundation,” said Paula Whitman, president of The Ed. Foundation. “It’s a true celebration of the creativity and ingenuity of the educators in Port Washington who go above and beyond on a regular basis. We are thrilled and so proud to support their ideas and help bring them to life for the benefit of our students.”

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kathleen Mooney said, “The district is grateful for the incredible generosity and support from The Ed. Foundation year after year to enrich the educational experiences our students receive in our schools. The 2015-16 grant awards are no exception.”

She added, “Our staff is extremely excited to implement their projects, knowing that they will spark creativity and joy in learning in their students. The district’s collaborative partnership with The Ed. Foundation provides a uniquely positive opportunity to bring our schools and community together.”

The goal of The Ed. Foundation (formerly the PWEF) is to support initiatives that are beyond basic educational needs and to enhance and expand educational opportunities for all students in the Port Washington Public School District. According to their website, The Ed. Foundation is an independent, nonprofit, community-based organization. Since 2001, The Ed. Foundation has actively raised funds and awarded grants to enhance and expand educational opportunities for all students in the Port Washington public schools. The Ed. Foundation actively seeks donations, grants and government funding in order to fund selected programs and resources.
