
On Monday, January 4th at 2:00 PM, Congressman Steve Israel (NY-03) will join the Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA-E) Director Ellen Williams to meet the Siemens Competition Award Winners at Manhasset Secondary School. Kimberly Te and Christine Yoo, seniors at Manhasset High School, were awarded a grand prize of $100,000 in college scholarships for their project, a more natural and cost-effective way to clean oil spills. The students will present their projects to Rep. Israel and Director Williams.
The Siemens Competition is the nation’s premier competition in math, science and technology. This year, the award winners were selected from nearly 1,800 student project submissions. Awards ranged from college scholarships of $1,000 to $100,000.
