Members of the St. Brigid/Our Lady of Hope Student Council and faculty moderators recently presented a Unity Celebration for the school community. A pair of students portrayed Ruby Bridges and Sonia Sotomayor, while other students acted out a dialogue between the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Gandhi and Jesus. The school chorus led the audience in singing “God Bless America,” “Love in Any Language” and concluded the program with “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”
The celebration’s special guest was Siela A. Bynoe, an alumna of the class of 1981 and a member of the Nassau County Legislature for the Second District. Bynoe spoke of her time at St. Brigid’s and the school’s impact on her commitment to serve others. She was accompanied by one of her legislative assistants, Gabrielle Alford, also an alumna of the school.
