Coping with a diagnosis of cancer in the workplace will be the topic of a forum, Balancing Work and Cancer, to be presented on Wednesday, March 16, at 6 p.m. at Adelphi University in Garden City. Christine Brennan, associate director of programs, cancer and careers, will explore the practical and legal issues that sit at the intersection of cancer and employment, including deciding whether to work during treatment, disclosure, managing side effects at work, tips for job hunting and more.
“A lot of people face the challenge of balancing a cancer diagnosis and work. And many of them wonder whether and how to disclose the news to their employer. The fact is every situation is unique; so we provide information and tools to help people make the decision that’s right for them,” said Brennan.
This free forum is offered by the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program, and sponsored by the Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer. The meeting will be at Alumni House at Adelphi University, 154 Cambridge Ave., Garden City. Reservations are required.
