Saddle Rock fourth-graders recently learned about local government and the importance of the U.S. Constitution when a mock trial was held in their school auditorium, which had been transformed into a “courtroom.”

Three members of the Great Neck Village Justice Court, Judge Harry Burstein, prosecutor Gary Muhlstock and clerk Christine Addiego, along with three members of the Great Neck Estates Police Department, enacted a trial involving a speeding motorist who passed a stopped school bus with red lights flashing while driving on Bayview Ave. Throughout the trial, Judge Burstein explained the laws and proceedings to the students.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Theresa Prendergast and Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education Kelly Newman also participated in this educational event.
