Clean Sweep Coming To Roslyn

Sweep_033016A - CopyThe Town of North Hempstead’s “Operation Clean Sweep” will be coming to the Roslyn area in April and May. The town’s highway crews will be hitting the streets around the clock to sweep up the winter debris on town streets. This two-week initiative is held each spring and aims to sweep every mile of North Hempstead roads.

On Monday, April 25, the operation will come to South Park in Roslyn. On Tuesday, May 3, the operation will work on Mineola Avenue, from the Long Island Expressway (LIE) to the Village of Roslyn line. The next day, Wednesday, May 4, the operation will focus on Mineola Avenue, from the LIE to village lines in Greenvale and Glenwood Landing.

Last year, the town’s environmentally-friendly bio-fueled street sweepers kept debris out of the town’s fresh-water catch basins as required by New York State, and gobbled up 5 million pounds of debris, with an even higher total expected this year.
