The New Hyde Park-Mineola Runners and Walkers Club is proud to announce that this year marks the 39th annual Championship New Hyde Park-Mineola 8K Race. Festivities take place Sunday, June 5, and start at Denton Avenue School in New Hyde Park. 
In addition to awards in age categories, the Club will be including cash awards to male and female overall, masters (40 plus) and senior grand masters (60 plus). First place is $75; second place is $50; third place is $25. In addition to the cash prizes, they will win free race entry for 2017.
Entry fee before June 4 is $25. Day of race entry fee is $30. Children 12 and under get a discounted rate of $15. With a registered adult, the rate is $5 per child. If you are a member of Long Island Track and Field, you can get an additional $1 off your entry fee. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Nassau County Firefighters-Operation Wounded Warrior and local youth groups.
Entry fee entitles runners to an 8K Championships shirt, pre- and post-race refreshments and the post-race raffle, with prizes including a TV, iPad, gift cards and more.
