The entire third grade from the George A. Jackson Elementary School in Jericho paid a visit to White Oaks Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Woodbury to spread some springtime cheer.
Under the direction of Andrea Gonella, the children came dressed to impress and sang uplifting tunes for the residents and staff as part of their focus on community service.
Jackson’s third-grade students, together with their teachers Mrs. DeMarinis, Mrs. Garfinkel, Mrs. Seth, Mrs. Spina, Mrs. Damico and Ms. Buczkowski, also presented residents with homemade springtime artwork and poetry. The goal for this project and visitation was to provide the third graders an opportunity to recognize the impact one act of kindness can have on people in the community.
