Northside Elementary School fifth-grade students in Levittown learned what it entails to pass a bill into law during a visit with New York State Assemblyman Tom McKevitt.
Mr. McKevitt explained that a bill is an idea that someone wants to make into a law and that there are approximately 11,000 pending in Albany today. He also described the process by which a bill is passed into law, including sponsorship, debate and voting.
“When I vote for a bill, I vote for you,” McKevitt told the students.
