The regular season is over and both the Herricks baseball team and the New Hyde Park boys’ lacrosse team have ended their 2015-16 campaigns with winning records.
New Hyde Park closed out the regular season with a solid 16-3 win over Elmont. James Brooks had a big day with seven total points on five goals and two assists. Matt Lorandini had five points, including three goals and two assists, while Rob Mirabile had three assists and Brian Hoerter had two goals.
New Hyde Park finished the regular season with a 4-4 record in conference play, but an excellent 10-4 record overall.
On May 9, the Herricks boys’ baseball team topped Port Washington, 6-3. Teddy Iovine, who has pitched brilliantly for Herricks all year, was the hitting star, poking a big, two-out double to give Herricks the lead for good. Tyler Needleman was the winning pitcher and Vito Mazzilli went three-for-four to anchor the Herricks attack. Herricks finishes the regular season with a 10-8 record overall and an 8-7 mark in conference play.
