Middle Schoolers Move Up

Despite the foreboding weather forecast all week, the morning of June 23 was perfect as 413 excited faces crossed the stage set up on the track at the Weber Middle School eighth grade promotion ceremony.

Christopher Shields led his first promotion ceremony as Weber’s new principal. He congratulated the graduates on their achievements at Weber and reminded them to always follow the Golden Rule. School Board President Karen Sloan gave the graduates helpful tips for successfully navigating high school. She reminded them that “there is no more recess.” And Jackeline Fernandes gave the moving Student Address reminiscing about, among other things, the changes in music during the students’ three years in middle school.

Parents, grandparents, families and friends cheered as teachers from the Red, Yellow, Green and Blue Houses conferred promotion certificates upon the graduates.
