Sewanhaka Students Travel To Italy

Sewanhaka High School students, chaperoned by teacher Liliana Bascetta, recently visited Italy. The students applied their linguistic skills as they communicated with the locals and took in many historical monuments, including the Coliseum, the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican. They also made the traditional “three coin” toss into Trevi Fountain and visited Il Duomo, where they climbed 463 steps, followed by a 414-step climb to the Bell Tower.

They enjoyed learning how to make gelato and wandered up Palatine Hill and through the Roman Forum, where they were given a lesson on ancient Roman life, religion and architecture. In addition, they explored the history and art of Michelangelo and rode on gondolas.
