Paddling Long Island Waters

Register online for this 7 p.m. program. Kevin Stiegelmaier, author of Canoeing and Kayaking New York and Paddling Long Island, will share all he has learned in his 18 years of paddling on Long Island. Learn which spots are the best and what there is to see when you get there. Preference given to UFSD #22 residents.

Intro To Digital Photography

At 7 p.m. for those entering grades 6-12. First Light Photography will help participants learn how to shoot and edit digital photos. Bring your digital camera or smartphone.

Tuesday, Aug. 2

Babytime

Register at the library for this 9:15 a.m. program geared for toddlers up to 18 months, accompanied by an adult. Rhymes and songs for babies. Proof of age required.

Matinee Movie

Farmingdale Library Cinema presents Philadelphia Story (1940), starring Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn, at 2 p.m. Not rated, 112 minutes. When a rich woman’s ex-husband and a tabloid-type reporter turn up just before her planned wedding, she begins to learn the truth about herself. No registration required.

Super Suncatchers

At 7 p.m. for all ages and an adult. Register online. Come to the library and make a suncatcher to hang in your window at home.

Wednesday, Aug. 3

Seniors Gather

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. join fellow seniors at the Senior Café. Bring a friend and make new ones. The library will provide the coffee and some interesting activities. Feel free to bring lunch or a snack.

No-Cook Pasta

For students entering grades 6-12, at 7 p.m. Register online. Paula Gottlieb-Herman will show participants how to make pasta that doesn’t need to be cooked.

Thursday, Aug. 4

DIY Mini Soccer Game

At 3 p.m. for students entering grades 6-12. Register online. Create your own miniature soccer game.

Knit and Crochet

The Knitting and Crocheting Club meets at 6:30 p.m. Join an informal group of knitters that meets once a month to work on projects. Participants bring their own supplies and work on their own projects. No registration required.
