The Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) recently honored women for their lifelong achievements with the Girl Scouts during the annual Adult Recognitions Ceremony. Among the awardees were Port Washington residents Deirdre Conneely, Claudia Rudegeair and Jessica Griffin, who received the GSUSA Appreciation Pin, which recognized their service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and their memorable impact in at least one community where Girl Scouting is offered.
Conneely has been a school liaison in Port Washington for two years and currently leads two troops. Her leadership and attention to community service have been inspiring to other leaders in the Port Washington Association.
Rudegeair was recognized for her introduction of the Fare Teal project. The project was created for children with food allergies, allowing them to trick or treat safely at homes with teal-painted pumpkins that had nonfood items for them.
Griffin, also a leader in Port Washington, has been actively involved with the community’s annual food drive for several years. She created a GS Patch for the drive which has increased Girl Scout participation in the event.
