The parking lot located between Maple Place and Orchard Street behind several Plandome Road stores is getting a face-lift. The lot behind Rite Aid, People’s Bank, Dunkin’ Donuts, Ranger Wireless and Daniel Gale Sotheby’s, as well several offices upstairs, will have no rear access while the lot is under construction. The lot has been stripped for pavement reconstruction. Pavement reconstruction is the process of installing both the subgrade asphalt layer as well as the top pavement overlay layer. The work began on Monday, Aug. 1. “It is supposed to be done in two weeks’ time,” according to one postal employee who asked not to be named.
Considered to be the slow time of the year, the paving will be completed before the beginning of school.
In the meantime, shoppers should be careful about where they can park in the area or consider parking on Plandome Road.
