New Hyde Park Scouts Visit County Legislature

Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D-Great Neck) recently invited Girl Scout and Boy Scouts troops from her district to visit the Nassau County Legislature and learn about how their County government works. Among them were Cub Scouts from Pack 202 in New Hyde Park. The scouts received an audio-visual presentation on the history of Nassau County Government. Afterwards, they were presented with an exercise in which they played the roles of legislators and constituents, discussing a given issue and coming to a resolution. Their visit also included a full tour of the legislative building. In addition, the scouts were invited back on a separate occasion to watch a meeting of the legislature and witness government in action.
