R. Bruce Grimm

OBITGrimm_081716AR. Bruce Grimm, a longtime resident of both Port Washington and Manhasset, peacefully passed away at Helen Porter Nursing Home on Monday evening, Aug. 1. He was born on July 13, 1937 in Mineola, NY, the son of Robert and Jeanne (Gilmour) Grimm. Bruce is survived by his wife, Doris of Middlebury, VT, and his three children, Karen Grimm of Middlebury, VT; Bob Grimm of Raleigh, NC; and Steven Grimm of Middlebury, VT; and several grandchildren. Also survived by his mother Jeanne of Punta Gorda, FL, and by his siblings Dr. Ron Grimm of Leeds, MA; Barry Grimm of Cutchogue, NY; Joan Cullen of Punta Gorda, FL; Kevin Grimm of Manhasset, NY; and Roberta (Grimm) Cherchio of Sandy, UT. He was predeceased by his father, Robert, and brothers, Richard of New York City and Roger of Fairfield, CT.
Bruce graduated from Chaminade High School and Yale University and went on to become a successful sales executive in the paper manufacturing industry. He enjoyed golf, traveling and helping others. After retirement from MidAmerica Packaging Company he and his wife retired to Venice, FL, where he volunteered at Big Brothers, the Humane Society and Meals on Wheels. Bruce’s motto was: “Don’t worry about things you can’t control, always have a sense of humor and don’t take yourself too seriously.”
In 2010, Bruce and his wife Doris Grimm moved to Middlebury to be closer to children and grandchildren. The family received guests at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home in Middlebury on Aug. 15.

His family would like to thank the staff at The Residence at Otter Creek and Helen Porter Memory Care Unit, as well as his physician Eileen Fuller, for their excellent care and support in Bruce’s final years of life.
