Hicksville-Based Troupe Will Stage Richard III

Richard-IIIEastLine Productions of Hicksville performs a William Shakespeare play every year, and its 2016 offering is the Bard’s Richard III at its theatre space, 2123 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh. Directed by Daniel Higgins.

Performances will be held Friday through Sunday, Aug. 26-28, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

After a bloody civil war between the royal families of York and Lancaster, England enjoys a period of peace under the victorious York, King Edward IV. His younger brother, Richard, desperate for recognition and to overcome his disfigurement, begins to plot his Machiavellian rise and will stop at nothing to claim the English throne. One of Shakespeare’s most complex and enigmatic characters has spawned countless interpretations and challenged actors for centuries.
