ZulesPainting_092816AThe Levittown Public Library will be showcasing the work of East Meadow resident Nick Zules throughout the month of October.

Zules graduated Columbia College, where he studied art and art history, then went on to study oil painting at the School of Visual Arts. He enjoys oil paintings of all types—landscapes, nudes and portraits— and also does line drawings, paper sculpture and bas relief sculpture.

Zules taught oil painting and drawing at the Suffolk Art Center in Commack for many years. His line drawings have appeared in many newspapers including the New York Times and other publications as well as in many magazines and periodicals.

His oil painting in particular, regularly appear in Long Island galleries, including the Fine Arts Museum of Long Island, where Zules won honorable mention and the Alliance of Queens Artists Juried Exhibition at St. John’s University, where he won first prize. The artist has also had solo shows at the Wall Street Gallery in Huntington and the Now and Then Gallery in East Meadow. He has also exhibited at the Silvermine Gallery in Connecticut, at the Berkshire Museum in Massachusetts and the Broome Street Gallery in Tribeca.

Zules’ work is in the private collections of R.C. Gorman, the noted Southwest artist, and the late actor Anthony Quinn, for whom he did a series of 12 portraits in pen and ink featuring him in diverse rolls.
