Golden Age Club meetings began on a warm and sunny September day. There were many smiling “hellos,” as members greeted one another after the summer hiatus. New members were introduced and a lively game of Bingo was played.

At another meeting, birthdays for August and September were celebrated, as were wedding anniversaries for these two months. Always very moving at all meetings is the salute to the flag, the singing of “God Bless America,” a spiritual and encouraging reading, and information—both happy and sad—about members.
As the calendar moved into October, the Club had a return visit from Eranga and Pranga, a husband and wife team, both of whom come from Sri Lanka. Billing themselves as international singers, they had club members singing along to a variety of tunes and dancing to the cha-cha. Members were treated to pizza for lunch to round out this delightful afternoon.
Most recently, a number of Club members traveled by bus to Woodloch Pines for a five-day vacation. This trip has been a member favorite for many years. Known for delicious meals, cozy rooms and beautiful scenery, Woodloch Pines offers many activities, as well as entertainment and an indoor pool. Those members who didn’t go, were the first to enjoy the magnificent Halloween display, which is set up every year by Mineola village employees. This year it is especially colorful with orange lights all around the room to highlight the display.
