A driver was arrested for fatally hitting a pedestrian and fleeing the scene in the suspect’s hometown of Hempstead on Tuesday, Nassau County police said.
Christopher Ebron was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
Homicide Squad detectives said the 21-year-old suspect was driving a Mercedes Benz northbound on North Franklin Avenue when he struck the victim as she was crossing the road at 6:40 a.m.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity wasn’t immediately available.
A judge set bail for Ebron at $30,000 bond or $15,000 cash. He is due back in court Thursday.
