Bethpage Crash Leaves Pedestrian Dead

A 23-year-old man was fatally hit by a car while crossing a road in his hometown of Bethpage over the weekend.

Nassau County police said Nicholas Santalucia was walking across Wantagh Avenue near the corner of Boone Street when he was hit by a northbound Toyota Camry at 12:25 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, who remained at the scene, was treated for her injuries at a local hospital.

Homicide Squad detectives impounded the car and are continuing the investigation but consider the crash to be accidental.
