A 40-year-old man was fatally hit by a car while crossing a road in his hometown of North Amityville over the weekend.

Suffolk County police said Rigoberto Galdamez-Lopez was crossing Route 110 when he was hit by a northbound Chevrolet Monte Carlo near the corner of Ritter Avenue at 10:07 p.m. Saturday.

The victim was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, where he was pronounced dead. The driver was not injured.

First Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on this crash to call them at 631-854-8152.
