Members of South High School’s Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Club took home a trove of medals, including more than a dozen first place, at the state competition, and 19 participants advanced to the national level held in Orlando, FL.
At the state competition, students medaled in such categories as: Creative Problem Solving, Clinical Nursing, Dental Science, Epidemiology, Forensic Medicine, Human Growth & Development, Medical Math, Medical Law, Medical Ethics, Pharmacology, Transcultural Health Care and Veterinary Science.
HOSA Club activities are self-funded. Faculty Advisor is science teacher Dr. Steven Tringali.
The HOSA Web site explains the purpose of the organization as one that “develops leadership and technical skills through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which are an integral part of the health science education instructional program.”
