There’s no shortage of furry friends looking for forever homes at animal rescues and shelters on Long Island, but choosing which organization to adopt from is as difficult as picking a pet.
Press readers helped make choosing easier when they voted Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center the Best Animal Shelter on Long Island in the 2017 Best of Long Island competition. Little Shelter also won Best Animal Rescue on Long Island in that contest.
From man’s best friend to furry felines, Little Shelter is determined to save the lives of these amazing creatures, place them in good homes, and end pet overpopulation. Although many of the dogs and cats that the shelter takes in are from all over the island, there are rescues that come all the way from New York City and other states as well.
Since 1927, this nonprofit not-kill shelter has been dedicated to saving the lives of countless animals, providing them with premier medical care, and finding them forever homes. With a thorough interview process in place for potential adopters, Little Shelter goes out of its way to ensure that every rescue’s new family with provide him or her with necessary essentials, including love, proving that the shelter’s staff and volunteers truly are the best.
It’s no wonder they’ve won both categories year after year!
