Cold winter months bring overcrowded shelters on Long Island, but adopting,
not shopping for your new best friend can help.

Here are some of the many adorable animals that are available for adoption this week.

Available for adoption at the Little Shelter in Huntington:William

If what you’re looking for is tall, dark and handsome, then William is your guy! He is
the coolest, making an excellent dinner partner or equally happy to just take a stroll in
the park with you. William would prefer to have all of your attention and in turn will be
your devoted companion and love you forever. charmboardCharm is a lovely girl who loves to be pet and will meow at you until you give her some attention and much-needed love. Her favorite part of the cattery is in the kitchen on one of the shelves. As soon as someone walks into the cattery, Charm is right there at their feet meowing…waiting to be loved. She is also a very good eater as she loves her wet food and treats. So, if you’re looking for someone loves to be pet and loved then Charm is your girl.milaMila is a 12-year-old Chihuahua mix who is described as a spunky little senior who seeks attention from anyone she meets. She comes right up to the staff and begs for them to pick her up since she loves to be held! Who could resist such an adorable face? Her happy-go-lucky nature can put a smile on anybody’s face.

For more information on adopting William, Charm and Mila, please call the Little Shelter
at 631-368-8770, or stop in for a visit at 33 Warner Rd. in Huntington.

Midnight e1516971879807
Midnight

Look at this handsome tuxedo cat! Midnight (reference number D48165) is a healthy 7-year-old boy who arrived at the shelter this past summer. Midnight has proved a million ways to the moon and back that he loves loves loves humans very much, but isn’t much of a fan of furry friends. This loveable fella would make a wonderful loyal companion to any cat experienced human.

Midnight loves to play, but loves snuggling with his besties even more! On his wish list is a quiet place with older children who can give him the space and confidence he needs to thrive in his new home. If you or someone you know can give Midnight his very own lap to spend forever on, please contact the North Shore Animal League at [email protected] today!

Available for adoption at The Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter:

Jesse
Jesse

Jessie is a girl after my own heart! As the owner of a Retriever/Pointer, I can tell you
these dogs are the best around! Jessie is described as a sweet gal who is shy around new folks. Jessie would definitely benefit from multiple visits by a potential adopter because once she becomes comfortable with you, you have a friend for life! Jessie would do best in an adult home that would give her all the comfort and assurance she needs. Trust me- you will love making Jessie your new best friend!

Peppa
Peppa

Peppa is quite a catch! This 4-year-old “low-rider” American Staffordshire Terrier is so
low to the ground that when she is sniffing something her belly almost touches the floor!
Peppa likes to go for long walks on the shelter’s nature trail or enjoys a nice scratching
session by her person. Peppa is an affectionate and funny dog that would like to be the
only pet in the home.

Call the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter at 516-944-8220 for more information on adopting Jessie and Peppa.

Available for adoption at Last Hope Animal Rescue in Wantagh:

charlotte
Charlotte

As a cat lover and former Russian Blue mix owner, I can agree that 4-year-old
Charlotte would make a super awesome best feline friend to any family! Charlotte’s
owner recently passed away leaving Charlotte no choice but to become a resident at Last Hope. Charlotte has lived with other cats and even two dogs so she would work well in a multi-pet house. Sweet Charlotte is FIV positive, but that won’t stop her from living a long, full life! Don’t miss your opportunity to take this gorgeous gal home today.
