We all know there’s always plenty of animals up for adoption on Long Island, but did you know there’s some awesome animal adoption events taking place this weekend and next weekend too? Read about some wonderful cats and dogs available for adoption this week and where to find some terrific local events that benefit local homeless animals!

Available for adoption at Little Shelter:

Jackson is a 12-year-old Puggle mix, seeking a family of his own to spend his golden years with. This gentle boy enjoys going for walks but is more of a “lay back and relax” type of guy. Once you meet Jackson, he’s certain to run away with your heart.

Jackson loves spending time with people and sitting outside where he can greet visitors at the shelter and make new friends. He also enjoys rolling in the grass and snuggling at your side. If Jackson sounds like your kind of guy, stop into Little Shelter to meet him today!

Dingo

Dingo is a large white and tabby cat with an unusual face that makes him look like he’s squinting. He is a very affectionate boy who loves getting chin scratches and will follow his favorite staff members around. This guy is a gentle giant who is just looking for someone to love him and spoil him the way he deserves.

Lola is a 5-year-old Lab/Pit mix who is a big mushy girl that just wants attention. She is always eager to get a back scratch. Lola feels a need to be very close with the people she loves. If she sits next to you she always needs to sit on your foot and lean into your side!

Her favorite thing in the world is rolling in warm, fresh from the dryer blankets. Lola’s favorite past time is running at top speed in Little Shelter’s dog park where she can let loose and get all her energy out. She’s a great dog and knows some of her basic commands, but is looking for a family who is committed to continuing her training and spending time with her.

For more information about adopting Jackson, Dingo and Lola, please contact Little Animal Rescue & Adoption Center at 33 Warner Rd., Huntington, or 631-368-8770.

Bubba

Available for adoption at the Town of Huntington Cat Shelter:

Bubba is a very mellow cat when you first meet him. He likes to lounge around on high shelves or cat trees. Once he learns to trust you, he can be very energetic, racing around the room and playing with whatever you throw at him.

He loves lounging by the door and getting fresh air from the open windows. He is also very protective of his family and expects to be rewarded with treats for his unconditional loyalty. Bubba is a sweet cat who would love to make your home his home, so head in and meet this cutie today!

Tinsel

Tinsel is a sweet girl who would love to be your best friend. She loves finding sunny spots to nap in and spends a lot of time hanging out in our enclosed decks. Tinsel enjoys playing with toys but seems to have a particular fondness of any toy in the color yellow. She loves getting treats of grilled chicken which one of our volunteers lovingly brings in for the kitties.

If the rewarding experience of adopting a senior is something you’d like to be a part of, please consider meeting this classy lady.

Simba

Meet Simba, this rather handsome a 5-year-old Terrier mix. He truly is a people dog and loves everyone he meets! He seeks out attention and will give you the same in return.
