Summit Lane Elementary School students and staff from the Levittown Public Schools recently held the school’s first Vocabulary Parade outside the school building. Coordinated by Summit Lane’s reading teachers, the special event allowed students to get creative with costumes while learning the definition of various words.
Leading up to the parade, all the classes received a list of vocabulary words. The students were asked to define a word from the list, use it in a sentence and create a costume at home that fit their designated word. Family members were invited to the parade and gathered around the track outside the school as students walked, wearing homemade T-shirts, cardboard signs, creative hats and more to showcase their words.
