If heading back to school has you feeling overwhelmed, take a homework break and read about some of the most adorable cats and dogs available for adoption on Long Island right here!

Jungle 2
Jungle

Available for adoption at Bideawee:

This handsome 6-year-old boy is Jungle! He is an entertaining boy who knows how to charm and make the crowds roar with laughter. This adorable tuxedo feline is very people-oriented and loves to play and engage with his friends. Being active and enthusiastic, Jungle tends to get a little carried away at times and may play with extra vigor. Therefore, we recommend a mature, experienced and adult-only family for this fun fellow. Mr. Jungle might be able to live with another active kitty, but this should be considered on a case-by-case basis. He would just blossom if his future household could provide a good amount of space, exercise and healthy outlets for his energy and curiosity.

Missy 1
Missy

Three-year old Missy is one charming little girl! Missy is a funny feline, who is a little nosey with her fellow cats, and just likes to watch what everyone else is up to. When she’s not busy spying, she spends time with her people pals and feline friends in equal measure; though she is a diva, so it’s all on her own terms! She’d do great in any home as saucy as herself, that shares in her sense of humor! She would do nicely with another kitty as well!

Roy
Roy

Seven-year old Roy came to Bideawee with his brother, Ross, all the way from Tennessee. Unfortunately, this sweet man is positive for heartworm, but Bideawee will cover all the treatment costs. Sweet Roy just needs a gentle place to rest his head until he is healthy, and in return he will light up your life with joy and affection.

Lexie

This sweet and fantastic 3-year old gal is named Lexie. She’s currently being treated for heartworm. Bideawee does cover the cost for her treatment, but this lovely lady needs a nice low energy home to recover in. While she might be shy at first, she would love nothing more than to be by your side all day.

For more information about adopting Jungle, Missy, Roy and Lexie, contact the Bideawee adoption center located at 118 Old Country Rd., Westhampton, or call 631-684-0079.

Ranger
Ranger

Available for adoption at Almost Home Animal Rescue:

Rescued from the outside elements by an Almost Home volunteer, Ranger is as sweet as they come, loves to be pet and welcomes all humans to the cattery like a little mayor. Ranger gets along great with other cats too, so you can bring him home to your already-existing fur baby! Contact Almost Home Animal Rescue at almosthomeli.org or call 631-627-3665 for more information about adopting Ranger today!

Azul
Azul

Available for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:

Cool Azul is known as the shelter’s dog play group super star! This adorable 8-year-old Pit Mix was surrendered to the shelter and apparently lived in a back yard his whole life. Azul was never socialized with people but boy oh boy, does he love to play with dogs of all sizes. The shelter uses Azul to test other dog’s friendliness and he is a total rock star in their doggy play groups! Azul is nervous meeting new people, but once you gain his trust, he is the most cuddly and mushiest dog ever. Azul is a laid-back dog and walks great on leash. Azul is looking for a dog savvy owner who can help him with socialization and work on his food issues. If you think you got what it takes, please don’t delay! Contact the shelter today!

Foxy 1
Foxy

Foxy is a gorgeous 9-year-old gal who has been at the shelter for way too long! She is extremely affectionate and loves to give hugs and kisses. All this gal wants is a home of her own. She’s interested in other dogs (slow intros are a must) and can live in a home with older kids (13+). Foxy loves going for walks and walks very nicely on her leash. She knows basic commands and is treat motivated so she’s always willing to learn a new trick.

If you are interested in adopting Azul or Foxy, please call for more information at 516-785-5220, visit him at 3320 Beltagh Avenue, Wantagh or email  adoption@tohmail.org

Ashley
Ashley

Available for adoption at North Shore Animal League America:

This southern young lady named Ashley (adoption #R166702) comes all the way from a wonderful rescue partner in South Carolina. With ears that never say no to ear rubs, this adorable 1-year old calico needs only a moment with you until you discover your soulmate. She’s never lived with a family before – can you offer Ashley the loving first (and last home) she’ll ever know?

Rex
Rex

When Rex (adoption #V38282) was left behind, the Animal League America team rallied around him to give him a fresh start. This precious 23-month-old, black and white, domestic short hair is one chill guy.  He patiently awaits being discovered by a family who will welcome him with open arms. Rex would be a wonderful choice for first time cat families. If that family is yours, reach out to learn more about this little dude today.

Marley
Marley

Marley (adoption #H209916) had his life turned upside-down when he recently lost his home, but this 4-year-old tabby is taking these changes in stride.  Marley would blend in beautifully to any loving home (as long as his humans promise to love him and give him ear rubs. Lots of ear rubs.) Marely has lived in a home with several cats in the past so he’ll make a great sidekick to a calm cat companion seeking a new best friend.  Would Marley be the perfect addition to your cat-loving home?

Mr. Tibbs
Mr. Tibbs

Mr. Tibbs (adoption #E3611) found himself in an overcrowded southern municipal shelter in the path of Hurricane Dorian.  Last week, the North Shore Animal League Emergency Rescue Team headed south to rescue at-risk animals and this lucky 11-year-old was among the dozens of animals transported out of harm’s way.  After a trip north, this charming tuxedo is ready for a safe, fresh start up in New York! He’s friendly, inquisitive, and playful – he’s perfect for a household looking for an older cat who is young at heart.   Would you like to be the northern hero that takes in this Hurricane Dorian rescue?
