The Suffolk County Council of Boy Scouts of America will host the Andrew McMorris Memorial Walkathon on Friday, Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving.

Andrew was killed by a drunk driver while hiking the Greenbelt Trail with Boy Scout Troop 161 in September 2018. His family will attend the walk at Baiting Hollow Scout Camp, located at 1774 Sound Avenue in Calverton. The event will raise money for the McMorris Lodge being built at the camp and will include a tour of the site.

“We are incredibly grateful that the Suffolk County Council is paying homage to Andrew and his love for the scouts in this amazing way,” the McMorris family said in a statement. “The McMorris Lodge will be a place to honor Andrew’s life and scouting spirit along with serving scouts for decades to come with a space where they can grow, learn and have experiences that will enrich their lives.”
