The Long Island Rail Road will adjust its daily train time schedule on some train lines to accommodate for trackwork starting Monday, May 23, the Metropolitan Transit Authority said.

Schedule changes impact the peak and off-peak train times on several LIRR branches, including the Babylon, Huntington/Port Jefferson, Ronkonkoma, and Oyster Bay lines, as well as some others. Riders should check the MTA-LIRR website for specific timetable changes.

“It is always one of our goals to provide the most reliable service possible whenever we are performing major infrastructure work,” said LIRR Interim President Catherine Rinaldi. “These service adjustments accommodate the final stages of work as we reach the homestretch of completing the LIRR’s most transformative projects. The schedule modifications optimize availability for crews to complete tasks, while minimizing disruptions to scheduled service.”

The two main projects that the LIRR is in the midst of completing are the Main Line Expansion Project and East Side Access, which will add a LIRR track bringing riders to Grand Central Station.

LIRR officials noted that summer-only trains on the Long Beach, Montauk, and Ronkonkoma branches will return starting Memorial Day weekend.
