The TMB Model Train Club will open its doors to the public this holiday season, showcasing its ever-expanding 6,500-square-foot O-scale model railroad layout in Dix Hills featuring a newly added replica New York City scene.
The club, located at 722 Deer Park Ave., will host free open house events between late November and early February. The events are open to visitors of all ages and will feature Lionel O-scale trains, interactive accessories and highly detailed model scenes that bring the miniature world to life.
“We have New York City, Park Avenue, Penn Station, the MetLife building,” Club President Stephen Scagnelli said. “We inherited a lot of very elaborate New York City replica buildings.”
The layout continues to expand as new elements are added to create a more immersive experience for guests.
“We have a carnival,” Scagnelli said. “We have an oil facility.”
Visitors can expect constant movement throughout the display, creating a realistic and engaging environment. The train room allows visitors to walk around the layout and view the displays from multiple angles.
The club also features a recognizable piece of television history.
“We also have the Sopranos layout from the second-to-last episode of HBO The Sopranos,” Scagnelli said.
“There’ll be plenty of trains running,” Scagnelli said. “We have four main lines. We have trolley lines. We have a full New York City subway line.”
The club will host open houses on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and select Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Dates include Nov. 29, Dec. 13 and Dec. 27 in 2025, as well as Jan. 3, Jan. 17 and Feb. 7 in 2026. Additional Sunday dates are scheduled for Nov. 30 and Dec. 14 in 2025, and Jan. 18 and Feb. 8 in 2026.
Raffle prizes will be available during the open house events.
