Zach and Alex Morris, twin brothers and sophomores at Garden City High School, competed as singles players in the Nassau County Tennis Championships held at Oceanside High School May 9 and 10.
Alex succeeded at winning his first two matches and made it to round 16 before falling to the No. 6 seed in the tournament.
As the No. 3 seed in the tournament, Zach Morris (pictured here with his trophy plaque) had two wins in the quarterfinals; moved on to win in the semifinals but was defeated in the finals. Zach’s efforts placed him 2nd in Nassau County and earned him a spot on this year’s state team. He was expected to compete at the National Tennis Center in Flushing, May 28-30.
