Interview Dates for Summer Employment at Pool
The Garden City Pool is pleased to announce the dates for pool employment interviews for the 2010 season. These interviews are open to people who are currently high school seniors and older. All potential pool staff whether new or previously employed by the pool, must make an appointment for an interview.
The interview dates are as follows:
Monday, Dec. 28 – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Cluett Hall
Wednesday, Dec. 30 – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Cluett Hall
Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010 – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Cluett Hall
Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Recreation Office
Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Cluett Hall
Any one that is interested in an interview is encouraged to call the Recreation Office at 465-4075 to schedule an appointment. Applications, which must be brought to the interview, are available in the Recreation Office.
Floor Hockey Program
The Garden City Recreation Department is proud to announce it will once again offer a Floor Hockey Program this winter at Field House @ St. Pauls. The program will be open to village residents between the ages of 5-13 on select Fridays according to the following schedule: Floor hockey will run on the following Fridays only: Dec. 4, 11, 18, Jan. 8, 22 and Feb. 5.
Ages 5 and 6: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Ages 7 and 8: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Ages 9 and 10: 7:45 to 8:45 p.m.
Ages 11-13: 7:45 to 8:45 p.m.
The cost of this program will be $20. In order to play in this program, all participants must wear the following equipment at all times: hockey helmet with cage, hockey gloves, shin pads, sneakers and a hockey stick. Dance Showcase Reminder
This is a reminder for any child in grades three and up who is registered for one of our dance classes and wants to participate in our year-end showcase. Your registration form for the showcase is now due. Rehearsals will begin the week of Nov. 30.
Children’s Indoor Instructional Tennis Program
The Recreation Department’s Winter Session of Children’s Tennis for ages 4-18 is quickly filling. These classes begin the week of Jan. 4 and run through April. Please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue to register for classes.
Registration for Preschool Arts and Crafts Has Begun
The Garden City Recreation Department will run a preschool arts & crafts program in Cluett Hall for children who are 3 and a half to 5 years of age. This program is open to Garden City residents only. Each week your child will make a project to take home following the seasons, holidays or other interesting topics. Our classes run for six weeks and are 45 minutes long. We will hold classes on the following days and times:
Tuesday at noon (began Nov. 10)
Thursday at 12:15 p.m. (began Nov. 5)
The cost of this six-week program is $30. To register, visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue.
Adult Programs in the Field House
The Recreation Adult Programs in the Field House began Tuesday, Oct. 13, according to the following schedule:
Mondays
Mens’ Open Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.
Mens’ Over 40 Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.
Tuesdays
Mens’ Over 30 Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.
Wednesdays
Mens’ Open Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.
Mens’ Over 40 Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.
Thursdays
Adult Volleyball 7:30-10 p.m.
Adult Soccer 8:30-10 p.m.
These programs are open to residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City who have graduated from high school. All programs listed are free of charge and strictly “pick up.” Any resident wishing to participate must show their license each week in addition to signing in. A non-resident guest may play but must be accompanied by a resident to enter.
