Letter: Nolan Should Run for Governor

I formerly lived in Islip for 30 years and I would like to compliment Islip Town Supervisor Mr. Nolan in having the best interest of the tax-paying public first and foremost! It was not popular with the town workers, who were getting a free ride, at the tax-paying public’s expense.
As a union member I am ashamed that a union would get involved in such a “perk.” They should be looking out for the well-being of the worker in so many other ways.
If they are going to use take-home cars as a union bargaining chip, why not for those who save lives? Hospital workers, police department workers, fire department, EMTs and such. If these people don’t get to work, people’s lives are at risk. If a town worker can’t make it in, they use benefit time and do the work the next day. Mr. Nolan is doing such a fine job with this, why not governor?
