McCarthy Announces Help for Homeowners Event
Although our economy is on the road to recovery, there are still many people who are hurting. People are trying to maintain their mortgage payments so they are able to stay in their homes. HOPE NOW and Making Home Affordable are programs that work with people to help them achieve that goal.
HOPE NOW’s mission is to reach out to homeowners in New York to help them remain in their homes and to minimize foreclosures. This effort will help New York avoid the devastating economic effects of foreclosures in communities throughout the state and the 4th District.
Making Home Affordable is a program the Obama Administration introduced that provides opportunities for people to modify or refinance their mortgage in order to make their monthly payments more affordable.
Together, HOPE NOW and Making Home Affordable are hosting free homeownership preservation workshops, April 28 to 30, at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale from 1 to 7:30 p.m. This event will allow homeowners to meet directly with their mortgage servicers, to discuss and start the process for refinancing and loan modifications, while also providing HUD-approved housing counselors to find alternatives to foreclosure.
In most cases, homeowners who attend the event will be walking away with a road map to recovery. And, in certain cases, homeowners will receive workout options on the spot or satisfaction that their modification is on track to become finalized.
