Glorious Music for Organ, Orchestra and Choir
The Diocesan Choir of Rockville Centre, led by Michael Wustrow, will combine forces with the South Shore Symphony to present sacred masterworks for chorus and orchestra. The program will include the Te Deum of John Rutter, and other works by J.S. Bach and Gustav Holst. The 80-piece South Shore Symphony Orchestra, led by Scott Jackson Wiley, and St. Agnes Cathedral co-director of music Michael L. Bower on the organ to present Camille Saint-Saens’s Symphony No. 3, the famous organ symphony, known for its thunderous organ chords at the beginning of the last movement. Over 200 musicians present works from the 19th and 20th centuries in the spacious acoustics of St. Agnes Cathedral, 29 Quealy Pl, Rockville Centre, at 7:30 p.m. Suggested ticket donation is $15 adults; $10 students and seniors. Spring Swing
Mill Neck Family’s fourth annual Spring Swing Invitational Golf Tournament will be held at the North Hills Country Club in Manhasset on May 24. Sportscaster and author Len Berman will join the event, where he’ll play golf and speak at the Champions Dinner. Entries are limited to the first 25 men’s, ladies’ or mixed foursomes. All golfers will receive an autographed copy of Berman’s new book The Greatest Moments in Sports. Additional copies will be available for purchase. For an entry fee of $350 per person, guests will enjoy delicious brunch, golf challenges and food and refreshments on the 7th, 10th and 12th holes of the course. These sessions are open to the public; they are not restricted to Bide-A-Wee clients or adopters. The group facilitator is Medea Berkman, a pet loss group leader with many years of experience. She gently guides the healing process to help people come to terms with their feelings of sadness and loss. No fee, but all donations are gratefully accepted to help Bide-A-Wee provide for the animals in our care until we place them in loving homes.
