Twelve teams from Island Trees High School have been named scholar athletes by the NY State Public High School Athletic Association for the 2009/10 school year.
“Although this is a team award, each athlete should be proud of their individual achievements,” said IT Superintendent Dr. Charles Murphy. “Indeed, it is the combined efforts of the individuals who strive for both academic and athletic excellence that made this achievement possible. In short, this prestigious recognition is a true confirmation of the student-athlete concept in Island Trees.”
The scholar-athlete teams are girls volleyball, girls cross country, boys cross country, boys golf, girls soccer, boys indoor track, girls basketball, girls indoor track, girls lacrosse, girls badminton, boys spring track and girls spring track.
Congratulations to all the scholar athletes!
