Youth Empowerment Day
A free, fun-filled event that was created to teach as well as celebrate every young person in a non-threatening, relaxed setting. The program consists of a panel of professionals, performances by various artists, free food, games give-aways and music. All youth centered organizations are invited. Panel themes include: how to: resist peer pressure, say no to gangs, avoid becoming a teenage mother or father, say no to alcohol, take bacvk your community by working toward a cleaner and safer neighborhood and more. The day also honors Dr. Laguerre for his contribution in caring for hundreds of sick children and their families. The guest speaker is young entrepreneur, Leanna Archer, who started her own corporation at the age of 11. There will be fashion show sponsored by Estelle’s Dressy Dresses. 1 to 6 p.m. at Eisenhower Park, parking lot 6 (near the Aquatic Center), East Meadow. Free Prostate Cancer Screening
Assemblyman Charles D. Lavine (D-Glen Cove) is sponsoring a free prostate cancer screening clinic from 3 to 5 p.m. at Magnolia Gardens, 899 Broadway, Westbury. The screenings are by appointment and will be performed in a private setting by doctors from Integrated Medical Foundation Inc. Outdoor Movies
Movies will be shown on the giant screen at the Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park (located near parking fields 6 and 6A), East Meadow. Special accommodations are available for disabled patrons, including reserved parking, easily accessible restrooms, and a convenient reserved location on the hill. Assistive hearing devices are available for the hearing impaired. There is no formal seating at Lakeside Theatre, so moviegoers are urged to bring folding chairs. The movies will begin at dusk. Exhibit of Early Levittown Memorabilia

Help for Seniors
Are you a senior who would like help paying for your Medicare benefits and prescription drugs? Free assistance is only a phone call away if you qualify for extra help because of limited income. There may be a way to alleviate some of the cost of Medicare – deductibles and coinsurance, Part B premiums, prescription drug plans (Part D). Reducing monthly premiums, annual deductibles and co-payments, aiding with coverage gaps (the doughnut hole). Hope for Youth
Hope for Youth is a not-for-profit agency located in Amityville and serving LI families and youth since 1969. Caring families are being sought to be part of the agency’s Therapeutic Foster Care Program or the Emergency Foster Boarding home program. Extensive training is offered and support to foster parents.
