One must admit, I did start to get a warm folksy feeling after reading the latest edition of the Long Island Wins article by Maryann Sinclair Slutsky, about her celebration of the various cultural events held on Long Island during the summer. Then the agenda Long Island Wins is really peddling was found tucked away mid-article, hidden between the Italian food favorites. It was once more about how we should all accept illegal immigrants as if they were just like legal immigrants. Long Island Wins works hard to blur the lines between illegal and legal immigrants here on Long Island, and there is a glaring difference between the two groups, and none of you should be confused by Long Island Wins’ agenda and mission to make you feel wrong for wanting America’s immigration laws enforced.
Legal immigrants are not, and should not, be an issue for anyone. Not for me, and clearly not for Long Island Wins, because they use them to slip in their support for illegal immigrants. Legal immigrants have the same rights, entitlements, and reasonable expectations that all American citizens enjoy, and illegal immigrants should not. Yet, Long Island Wins glosses over the distinction of legal and illegal, by their latest offering of dribble saying “regardless of their legal status” when referring to all immigrants and the summertime festivities here on Long Island. In truth, Long Island Wins is all about the illegal immigrants here on Long Island, and everything else they offer is rhetoric.
The most recent Aug. 20 article by Long Island Wins sung the praises about the various summertime ethnic gatherings held on Long Island, and opens and closes with the tasty favorite Italian food favorites of zeppoles, and stromboli. Clearly the article is once again written in support of, and about illegal immigrants, yet not one Latin cultural food is mentioned. Instead, we summertime readers of the Farmingdale Observer are being served some old fashioned cheap baloney by Long Island Wins, and their author of propaganda and misinformation, Ms. Maryann Sinclair Slutsky. It is statistical fiction writing at its best.
