Successful Opening of School

We had a very successful opening with our teachers greeting all our enthusiastic students on September 7. Our enrollment is up from what we closed school with in June, plus additional students are being registered. We will have an exact tally at next month’s meeting. In the meantime the following students have been registered:

Garden City Park    300

Manor Oaks    368

Hillside Grade    472

NHP Road    486

Total Enrollment    1,626

Our teachers have all received staff development in our new social studies program and the excellent historically accurate pictures and documents will add to the students’ understanding of this subject area.

Our custodial staff did an outstanding job getting all of our buildings ready for the start of the year.

As a district, we are moving forward with year two of our Five Year Plan. We will be making numerous presentations regarding the Capital Reserve Plan and the vote scheduled for Oct. 12.

All information regarding the plan is listed on our website.

Tonight, the Board of Education will be adopting four district goals that will provide vision and direction for this school year.

We are pleased and proud to serve the children of our community this year and the years ahead. Wishing everyone a very successful school year.
