Obituary: Stephen Donald Regan

Stephen Donald Regan, 90, of the U.S. Virgin Islands and Bayville, died quietly at home on Oct. 22, 2010. Husband of 47 years to Josephine. Father of Alanna D. Regan of Port Jefferson, Sheila Sealy of Cold Spring Harbor and Dennis P. Regan of Cambridge, NY. Steve had a much traveled and storied life. Born in New York City and raised in upstate New York, Steve was a graduate of Union College and Syracuse University. He also served in the U.S. Merchant Marine before going on to serve as a first lieutenant of the Army Air Corps in WWII where he was decorated for his service in the Pacific Theater.

Steve was known to man on Long Island as the president and owner of Regal Cadillac, Inc., in Glen Cove and later Greenvale where he enjoyed many years of business success in the automobile industry. He was also one of the founding members of the Independent Tax Party of Bayville with James Aylmer and Thomas Alfano.

During his retirement on the U.S.V.I. Island of St. Croix and his ancestral home in upstate New York, he greatly enjoyed entertaining friends and family and pursuing his lifelong passion for tennis. He spent much of his time organizing and hosting charity events benefiting children’s welfare such as the St. Croix Queen Louise Home for Children and the cancer society. Steve possessed a keen sense of humor and will be fondly remembered by his family and friends. Arrangements were made by the Oyster Bay Funeral Home. Funeral services private.
