It’s been over a year since Woods has lifted a trophy on Sunday, and over the weekend he dropped another tournament, this time the Dubai Open, when he went from one stroke behind the leader to a 75 on Sunday, finishing behind by seven strokes.
And while the collapse was more salt in the wound for Woods, the European Tour went and hit Woods right in his wallet.
It was announced this morning that Woods has been fined by the European Tour for spitting on the 12th-hole green as he lined up a putt.
The incident raised the ire of Sky Sports’ Ewan Murray, who was commentating the event.
“Disgusting, what he has just done there, but there are some parts of him that are just arrogant and petulant,” Murray said.
Tournament director Mike Stewart said that Woods’ actions were not acceptable under the codes of conduct, and that with the incident “there has been a breach” of the conduct code.
The European Tour would not disclose the amount Woods has been fined.
